PRE AND POST NUPTIAL AGREEMENTS

Prenuptial agreements and postnuptial agreements are private contracts made by 2 persons about to be married or divorced. Both types of agreements are an effort by the parties to define for themselves the rights, duties and responsibilities in their own marriage, and divorce,that otherwise would be regulated by state law upon divorce, separation, annulment or death.

We understand that the concept of a prenuptial agreement is sometimes difficult or uncomfortable to discuss. It doesn't seem to make sense to negotiate the terms of a divorce before you get married.  However, prenuptial agreements can actually promote marriage, providing a clear understanding between the parties in situations where some people would not choose to marry unless there is such an agreement.  For example, some people need to protect businesses and business partnerships while others want to provide for children from a prior union.Prenuptial agreements and postnuptial agreements require a lot of negotiation and no two agreements are alike.
